The Mori are a clan steeped in mystery and the unknown. Some claim they were touched by the divine, granted their unique abilities to serve some greater purpose. But the more likely is that they were extensively modified on the cellular and genetic level over countless generations.
While the exact origins of this Clan are unknown, the biology is much better known. Firstly, the growth cycle of the Mori clan is heavily altered. While they exhibit ordinary levels during the first few years of life, their growth hormone levels and cellular mitosis rate suddenly drops off once they reach a certain point, typically between ages 3 and 5, though exceptions have been noted, reaching a natural biological age 18.
The reason for this stagnated growth remains unknown, but it is of little consequence. A second note is that they lack certain sections of 'Junk' DNA. Some of these sections play a role in restricting cellular division in normal humans. Without these sections, the user's cells will continue to multiply indefinitely, albeit at a much slower rate. It is believed that these missing sections also contribute to the sudden drop off in cellular division at young ages.
Biological Immortality, external events, such as organ trauma and blood loss can still kill a Mori, but the passage of time is no foe. Because their cells reproduce indefinitely, and they possess greater quantities of Stem Cells, the Mori are capable of potentially living endless lives. Though to offset this theoretical indefinite lifespan, the Mori also possess a much lower fertility rate and longer gestation period than average humans.
Having only an estimated 1/100th the odds of an average human, barring secondary circumstances, of conceiving a child, coupled with a gestation period of 27 months, three times the normal human gestation period. In addition, most Mori children are born rather weak, leading to common stillborn children and high rates of death within the first three years of life. Those that survive the three years of death, however are treated as a great gift to the clan as a whole, and are raised with the utmost care.
However, despite their dramatically reduced rate of aging, the Mori clan are not restricted to the appearance of children for the entirety of their potentially endless lives. A Mori, possibly due in part to their unusual cellular division patterns, is able to learn to manipulate their cellular apoptosis and mitosis to a startling degree, aging years, even decades, in a matter of seconds, or reversing the process to become children once again.
The Mori have a "Doujutsu", known as 'Kamisama no Metsuki', literally translating as 'The Eyes of God'. This doujutsu grants the user the ability to perceive virtually anything material within the range, down to the cellular and even genetic level, in full and living color.
Something interesting about the clan is that, with few exceptions, the clan is Mono-gendered. In other words, all members of the clan generally have the fully functioning reproductive systems of both genders, perhaps in an effort to offset the incredibly low rate of surviving children above the age of three. Though, they can still appear, save for a few "additions', just like any male or female. Regardless, this leads to another unusual trait of the clan.
As the clan is almost entirely made up of hermaphrodites, it would be incorrect to claim any sort of definite gender dominance in politics, one couldn't say they have either a matriarchal or patriarchal society. Instead, they determine leadership through who is best suited to lead as a whole. Appearance wise, they can come in many different varieties, ranging from slender to full figured, short to tall, and everywhere in between. However, the clan is far too diverse for them to be visually defined as a clan. As far as clothing is determined, they are also quite varied.
