Architecture: Kusagakure stays true to it's name as it is not only surrounded by grass, but also integreated with it to the point where moss and vines on their buildings is a completely natural thing. In fact, Kusagakure has the greatest flora and fauna of all nations. The city itself is within a large forest and, therefore, surrounded by it as well. The landscape is made of many hills, forests, and even mountains off to the distance. Many Kusagakure ninja run around barefoot and are avid nature lovers. Their buildings consist of very simple buildings mostly made out of hardened Doton. Due to the Sumi clan originating in Kusagakure all of the buildings are crisply painted and there is a huge art exhibit near the center of the town as they are an extremely cultured civilization. Their medical teams are the best throughout the Shinobi lands due to the variety of herbs and poisonous plants. They are very fond of bridges, as well, and have several connecting to the land. Without it, the Land of Grass would be nothing more than a huge island. In the western edge of the city there are a quartet of towers that serve as the reconnaissance center of the town. There is a bridge leading into the southern edge of town known as Tenshi Bridge (Angel Bridge) and each pole will be modeled with the body of a Kage as they pass onto the next life.
Society: Kusagakure is known as a melting pot for the different nationalities and ethnicities that live there. They are a relatively peaceful nation and much more refined than the others. They place high value on art: literature, music, art, dance, etc. Many people perceive the members as snobby and irrational. The truth is that they hide behind these "arts" in order to have everyone doubt their shinobi skills. They place high value on their military strength as well as their discipline. They have a very special prison, known as the Hōzuki-jō and it is the highest security prison available. They have a very low crime rate, because of it, and overall peaceful civilization. They tend to wear more natural made clothing and eat organic foods. Many see them as the "hippies" of the Shinobi world, much to their disdain.
History: Kusagakure was seen as a weak civilization; they needed to be protected by those around them. They had treehouses as their main headquarters and were seen as a joke. They had some interesting jutsu and techniques, but nothing more than that. They had a weak military power and found itself to be looked down upon. They didn't even have a proper Kage, they only had a King who ruled as their monarch. He tried his best but it was simply too much for someone as incompetent as they were. Tired of the way their village was being handled the shinobi split into a resistance. They staged a coup d'état and removed him from his power without actually killing him, in order to keep some remnant of peace.
They created a new form of leadership in the form of appointing a Kusakage as well as an Elder Council to make sure that they never go into such a dark era as before. The Shodaime Kusakage was appointed in the form of Megumi Kisaragi and they began constructing a new village and a new military. She reformed Kusagakure and fixed all of the architecture around the forests. She also fixed and modified the bridges around them to make communication with the other villages easier. With the help of Doton users, the Kuro-Shiro, and the Sumi she was able to turn the reputation of Kusagakure around. No longer looked down upon, many perceive that they are looked down upon by them.
