The Aburame Clan is characterized by their use of insects as weapons. Specifically named 'Destruction Bugs', these insects live in symbiosis within the body of the shinobi. At birth, members of this clan are offered to a special breed of insects called 'kikaichū' as a nest, residing just under their host's skin. The clan members may also carry additional bugs in jars or gourds with them on missions. The insects can leave and enter their host's body through various pores, upon command on the user. Finally, they feed on chakra as a food source, making them quite deadly.

The relationship between the shinobi and the insects is mutually beneficial. The host grants the bugs shelter and allows them to feed off their chakra, their body becoming a living hive of tens of thousands of these bugs, and in return the bugs do the user's bidding, allowing the shinobi to perform ninjutsu-like techniques without the use of hand seals or chakra conversion. As a bonus, a female bug can be left on a target, which then can be tracked by smell by the male bug, or scout bugs can be sent out and return to tell the host information about the area. For this reason, Aburame clan members are experts in espionage; they can communicate with the bugs, and the bugs specialize in stealth because they make no noise or motion during combat.

In addition to utilizing insects in battle, the Aburame clan also studies insects. Because of this, they are rivals of the Kamizuru clan, the bee users. A major defining trait of the Aburame clan is that all of its known members wear dark sunglasses that hide their eyes as well as wear clothing that covers up most of their body. Even though their bug-related techniques are known only amongst the clan, a select few possess a special type of bug that is rare even among the clan's members. finally, all Aburame clan members possess the ability to communicate with other bugs and insects.

[/b][/u]: The Aburame clan are renowned for their unique symbiotic relationship with their insect companions. Using their bodies as a hive, they are capable of harvesting the insects with more success despite the speeds. Master Aburame clansmen of this level have increased the productivity of their Mushi Mayu (Insect Cocoon), increasing the amount of insects produced by 500 insects (for a total of 1,500 per post).


-Tier Two - Evolutionary Breeding: Evolution touches all creatures, whether it be humans or insects. Due to their unique nature, an Aburame's insect companions are more susceptible to these changes; they have developed a natural resistance to specific forms of nature chakra. Insects of Aburame masters at this level are capable of obtaining complete immunity to one of the Aburame's basic elemental release.


-Tier Three - Ravenous: Despite constantly feeding on their host's chakra when they are inactive for any period of time, the insects within the Aburame are never sated. In fact, it seems that the more potent the Aburame becomes, the more dire their insects' hunger becomes. The few Aburame who achieve this level of mastery over their companions have increased their draining capabilities, adding an additional increment of one High to all draining effects (essentially capping the user's Kikaichuu no Jutsu at 2x High drained per turn).

[/b]: This technique requires direct physical contact between the user and victim, using whatever appendage the intended insects dwell upon. These bugs have a dormant phase equivalent to one turn after they have been inserted into the victim, at which time they can be killed by a "overloading" their systems via a surge of chakra equivalent to x2 high per insect.

Failure to eliminate these bugs during their dormant phase will result in the bugs growing incredibly large as they begin to devour the user's chakra and flesh. The pain is absolutely excruciating. Destroying the insects at this point - two posts after insertion - is quite difficult, requiring a surge of chakra equivalent to x3 high per insect.

By the third post, the bugs have reached their maximum size - roughly the size of a fully matured man's torso - and have likely devoured the majority of their target. Death is painful, but certain. It should be noted that this scaling and timing is based on humanoid sizes; inserting them into something such as a summon will require indefinitely longer periods of time.
